Academy of General Dentistry Appoints New Vice President

20160421-IMG_3668The Academy of General Dentistry (AGD) is pleased to announce that Neil J. Gajjar, DDS, MAGD, of Mississauga, Ontario, was installed as organization’s vice president during an installation ceremony on July 18 as part of the organization’s annual meeting. Dr. Gajjar is the organization’s second vice president from Canada and first South Asian to hold this leadership position.

“Being elected as Vice-President is truly an honour and privilege,” Dr. Gajjar says. We have a lot of work ahead of us, which I am confident we will accomplish with the great team, staff, and support of our members.”

Dr. Gajjar, who previously served as secretary for AGD, has been very active throughout the organization, including work on the AGD Membership, Dental Education, Group Benefits and Annual Meeting councils. He is a past president of the Ontario AGD and South Asian Dental Association. In addition, Dr. Gajjar is a member of the Canadian Dental Association, has been a lecturer of oral pathology and a clinical instructor at the Canadian Academy of Dental Hygiene, and has served as a clinical instructor in the Oral Diagnosis and Emergency clinics at the University of Toronto Faculty of Dentistry.

A graduate of the University of Toronto with a degree in chemistry, Dr. Gajjar received his Doctor of Dental Surgery from Howard University in Washington, DC where he was awarded the Teachers of Oral Diagnosis Award.

He has completed the American Dental Association’s National Board Dental Examination Park I and Park II, as well as the National Dental Examining Board of Canada exams. He is licensed in the Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario in Toronto.

Dr. Gajjar is an AGD Master and a fellow of the Academy of Dentistry International, American College of Dentists, International College of Dentists, and Pierre Fauchard Academy. He is certified in intravenous sedation and also is the official dentist for the Miss India-Canada pageant and Suhaag Publication Group.
