Every year the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry’s Professional Education Committee (PEC) pushes the envelope when it comes to offering dental professionals the very best in comprehensive cosmetic dentistry education at the Annual AACD conference. This year, the PEC has torn the envelope up, thrown it out the window, and opted for a completely reimagined structure for delivering that world-class education.
The conference’s three daily themes: Design, Implementation, and Realization are more than just catch phrases – they are a scaffolding on which the entire conference is structured. According to Professional Education Committee Chair, Robert Ritter, DMD, “The themes were selected because they can help guide the dentist and laboratory technician in the overall process of framing the patient for a new smile.” Design, Implementation, and Realization will be providing a unified structure for the conference; they represent a process that is sequential and cumulative, so each day will build on the knowledge gained the previous day.
The educators, and the topics they address, will follow that path from Design on day one, to Implementation on day two, and finally Realization on day three. Some of the featured presenters will include Bill Robbins, DDS and David Sarver, DMD on day one; Michael Pikos, DDS, and Andrea Ricci, DMD on day two; and Markus Blatz, DMD, Gerard Chiche, DDS, and John Kois, DMD on day three.
All of the courses offered at AACD 2016 are intended to elevate the clinical skills of all conference attendees—the entire dental team—but the AACD will also offer the Accreditation track courses for those attendees who seek to differentiate themselves at a level of excellence only achieved by the most dedicated and passionate dental professionals. Attendees can even begin the process of AACD Accreditation by taking the written exam in Toronto.

AACD 2016 attendees will certainly be on the pulse of this vibrant city. The convention location, the Metro Toronto Convention Centre, is neighbor to the CN Tower, and in addition to the surface level options for dining, shopping, and entertainment, there are 30 km of underground shopping options along PATH, the city’s downtown underground pedestrian walkway.
Between the world class education, industry related shopping in the exhibit hall, and AACD social events, attendees may want to plan on extending their visit to Toronto to ensure plenty of time to explore the this buzzing metropolis.
