Heraeus Kulzer and Dental Wings Announce Long-Term Development Partnership

Laser Milling Technology Opens Up New Opportunities
The Hanau, Germany-based dental manufacturer Heraeus Kulzer and the Canadian digital specialist Dental Wings are breaking new ground in CAD/CAM manufacturing. At the 2015 International Dental Show (IDS) in Cologne, Germany, the two companies will announce their partnership on a new innovative milling technology developed by Dental Wings: Laser Milling. Together, Dental Wings and Heraeus Kulzer will distribute the new CAM technology with specialized Heraeus Kulzer materials, revolutionizing the digital production of dental restorations.
The partnership brings together Heraeus Kulzer’s decades of materials expertise and Dental Wings’ digital know-how. Heraeus Kulzer supports dental technicians and dentists around the world with materials and services for digital and traditional techniques. Dental Wings’ core expertise lies in digital dental technology, with a portfolio including solutions such as software for computer-aided prosthetics as well as 3D scanners.

From L to R: Dr. Martin Haase, Managing Director of Heraeus Kulzer; Mike Rynerson, CEO of Dental Wings; Novica Savic, Head of Division Dental Materials at Heraeus Kulzer.

The new technology brings the digital production of crowns and bridges to a new level. The underlying process is laser ablation: within a closed loop 3D process and integrated quality control, the laser “mills” the materials. That is why it is named “Laser Milling”. Materials including modern composite, glass ceramic and zirconia blocks can be used.

Opening up new possibilities together
“Users want to produce durable restorations flexibly and efficiently. This requires that we closely integrate high-quality materials and modern technologies,” explains Dr. Martin Haase, Managing Director of Heraeus Kulzer. “With Dental Wings, we have a talented, proven partner for this novel laser milling technology who shares our commitment to always being a step ahead.”

Novica Savic, Head of Division Dental Materials at Heraeus Kulzer, adds, “Laser milling offers interesting opportunities to efficiently and reliably provide patients with digitallyproduced dental restorations. But even in modern digital prosthetics, the basis for highquality restorations is still aligning materials to the needs of the dental technology. Our job is to provide these solutions.”

“The phrase ‘paradigm shift’ is truly appropriate for Dental Wings’ Laser Milling. This technology has the potential to re-write the rulebook for producing dental restorations,” explains Mike Rynerson, Chief Executive Officer of Dental Wings. “With Heraeus Kulzer, we have an experienced materials specialist at our side that has for decades been driving dental and technical restoration with innovative, reliable materials. It is only with properly matched materials that we can exploit the full potential of the laser milling technology for dental applications.”

Focused on users’ requirements
Heraeus Kulzer and Dental Wings will present the capabilities of this revolutionary technology at IDS. In the “Future Corner” at Heraeus Kulzer’s booth, the developers will discuss fields of application and requirements with users. The partners are currently working together to optimize the technology and materials. The laser milling machine and related materials should be available in the first half of 2016.

Sirona presents exclusive 2015 design trends for treatment centers: as individual as each practice

Sirona is setting new standards in treatment center design at IDS 2015. With the “Sirona Design World of Impressions”, the company is presenting four new lines that capture current color and design trends. Visitors can experience these live and have professional photographs taken in a design world.

Bensheim, Pure Lightness, Craft & Origin, History & Innovation and Color & Joy the names of the four new design lines from Sirona give away the emotions that could be evoked. And that is exactly the point: to make the individual design of a practice room come alive emotionally. The design worlds allow the practice’s owner to customize the set-up according their taste and preferences, since the design of the workplace is not just its visual appearance, it also supports functionality by means of special materials and surfaces, and represents the atmosphere of the practice with its color combination. Whether striking features or minimalist accents, the furnishings of a practice reflect how the dentists and assistants who work there see themselves.

Discover a world of innovations

Ivoclar Vivadent to show a strong trade show presence at IDS in Cologne with its latest innovations.

Discover a world of innovations! This is the motto under which Ivoclar Vivadent would like to invite all visitors of the International Dental Show (IDS) to an exciting and informative tour into the world of dental medicine and dental technology of tomorrow. The company will present the newest innovations in its three product areas “Direct Restoratives”, “Fixed Prosthetics” and “Removable Prosthetics”. The exhibition stand will have a lot in store for its visitors.

Innovation not only means developing and offering products which are based on the most recent scientific results and technical developments, it also means offering complete systems where each component ideally complements the other. The top priority is always to offer the users complete systems that will enable them to work more efficiently and satisfy their patients’ needs for first-class, highly esthetic results.

The exhibition visitors can expect an exciting new product here, which will complement the portfolio in an innovative way. In the area of fixed prosthetics, all-ceramics will play a central role, in part, as a result of the e.max Press Multi ingots which were launched in autumn 2014.

Sirona models digital dental technology: New freedom with inLab

Bensheim/Salzburg. With the inEos X5 model scanner, inLab software, the inLab MC X5 and inLab MC XL milling and grinding units, and the inFire HTC speed quick-sintering furnace, Sirona meets a key demand of dental technicians: All inLab components are coordinated with one another and are open for integration into the existing CAD/CAM infrastructure of a laboratory.

The new inLab software 15.0 will be introduced at the IDS. Its structure has been adapted to the workflow in a dental laboratory and includes many new features. By integrating the “biogeneric reconstruction” application and opening it up for dental databases, considerably improved initial proposals can be generated. Furthermore, it is now possible to design model casts or surgical guides.

In combination with Sirona Connect, the system for digital impression taking in the practice and further processing in the dental laboratory, inLab is a reliable CAD/CAM partner. New communication tools such as chat und Skype have been integrated into the Sirona Connect portal for a faster, more direct exchange of information between the dentist and dental technician.

Under the slogan “Because dental technicians need their freedom”, Sirona invites IDS visitors to experience the new possibilities with inLab live.

The family company founded in 1890 and based in Bremen on the river Weser has been producing dental products from a single source for 125 years. Today the company is run by the fifth generation of owners. “2015 is set to be a very special year and we want to celebrate this with our customers, partners and staff,” explains the Managing Partner of BEGO, Christoph Weiss.

The company is not only celebrating the 125th anniversary of BEGO Bremer Goldschlägerei Wilh. Herbst GmbH & Co. KG, but also the 25th anniversary of BEGO Implant Systems GmbH & Co. KG and the 15th anniversary of BEGO Medical GmbH. In total the company can boast 165 years of experience which, first and foremost, are based on the know-how and achievements of the company’s founder Dr. Wilhelm Herbst. With the invention of the rotation method he laid the foundation for this successful international group of companies which, today, has a workforce of approximately 450.

Visitors can look forward to the presentation of our 3D printing system which will revolutionise day-to-day work in laboratories and 3D printing. At the IDS in Cologne the Bremen-based dental specialist BEGO will be presenting its self-developed 3D printer, Varseo. It is optimised for dental applications and allows the production of a wide range of items made of plastic in the laboratory. In addition to the printer, the associated materials, software tools and services for the rapid, simple and cost-effective production (of, for example, splints, surgical guides, CAD/Cast® partial denture frames and customised impression trays) will be on display.

The specially developed campaign “Building the future for 125 years – Happy Birthday BEGO!” to mark this anniversary will accompany all online and print material activities throughout the year. After all, this really is a cause for celebration!
