Highlights from the 2006 Pacific Dental Conference

The just-finished Pacific Dental meeting was a great success! With over 9,000 attendance and more than 200 companies participating in the exhibits, the convention centre was bustling! Lecture rooms were full, and the exhibit floor was busy as dentists and their teams gathered to listen, learn and mingle with friends and colleagues. It was great to see such a busy Canadian meeting!

There were a number of new things to see at the PDC. Here are just a few:

*”Periowave” from Ondine Biopharma: a Photodynamic Disinfection System for the treatment of periodontal disease. This is a broad-spectrum antimicrobial that combines advanced cold laser technology with a photosensitizing solution for the treatment of periodontal disease. As a site-specific and microorganism-specific treatment, the Periowave system offers a new adjunctive treatment protocol for the reduction of periodontal pathogens. The Periowave system destroys the periodontal pathogens that scaling and root planning may leave behind. As an adjunctive therapy, Periowave gives clinicians the ability to enhance patient care. According to Ondine Biopharma, Periowave is effective, efficient, painless, safe and easy to use. In clinical trials, the use of Periowave in addition to scaling and root planning has shown significantly better results than when SRP is used alone. Periowave is available exclusively from your Henry Schein Ash Arcona representative.

*A full range of high quality specialty chemicals and disinfectants from Supermax Canada. All these products are approved by Health Canada and Agriculture Canada. Contact Supermax for full details.

*Kodak was promoting their new “CR 7400” first launched at the Chicago Midwinter Dental meeting.

There were also many new software innovations from the computer companies exhibiting at the meeting and from many of the other companies on the floor.

Be sure to mark your calendar for the 2007 PDC, taking place March 8-10, 2007!
