Mississauga, Ontario Dentist Elected as AGD Secretary

The Academy of General Dentistry (AGD) is pleased to announce that Neil J. Gajjar, DDS, MAGD, of Mississauga, Ontario, was elected as the association’s secretary during AGD 2015, the academy’s annual meeting, which took place June 18 to 21 in San Francisco.

A member of the AGD since 1999, Dr. Gajjar has been active on both the local and national levels. He is a past president of the Ontario AGD and has served on the AGD Membership, Dental Education, Group Benefits, and Annual Meetings councils.

In 2006, Dr. Gajjar earned his AGD Mastership Award, the association’s highest honor and one of the most respected designations within the profession. To accomplish this goal, he completed more than 1,100 hours of dental continuing education.

Dr. Gajjar also is a member of the Canadian Dental Association, Ontario Dental Association, and serves on the Professional Liability Program committee of the Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario. He is a past president of the South Asian Dental Association.

Dr. Gajjar has lectured on managing medical emergencies in the dental office, has been a lecturer of oral pathology and a clinical instructor at the Canadian Academy of Dental Hygiene, and has served as a clinical instructor in the Oral Diagnosis and Emergency Clinics at the University of Toronto Faculty of Dentistry. Dr. Gajjar is a fellow of the Academy of Dentistry International, Pierre Fauchard Academy, International College of Dentists, and American College of Dentists.

In 1995, Dr. Gajjar earned a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from the University of Toronto. He obtained his dental degree from Howard University College of Dentistry in 1999.

Dr. Gajjar and his wife, Sona, have two children, Kaden (4) and Kiana (2).
