Science Lab and German Dental Day in Dental Technology from Germany @ Sino Dental 2013

Visitors to the sector capability show “Dental Technology from Germany” at Sino Dental from 9th to 12th June 2013 in Beijing shouldn’t miss the chance to see two highlights in particular: “Science Lab”, the special show from the German dental industry on the topic of “Innovation and Research”, and the German Dental Day symposium on the second day of the trade fair, 10th June 2013.

The Science Lab: between practice, laboratory and research
What goes on inside the special show, which is designed as a research station, can already be seen from outside. As the visitors slide the movable panels on the outer façade of the Science Lab on which the lab’s content is introduced, different films about the innovations and topics presented behind the panels play. In addition, historical and modern motifs of Germany provide a background for souvenir snapshots and mark the special show as “made in Germany.”

When a visitor enters the Science Lab, he or she is greeted by a virtual dental assistant and shown in to the Practice Area. There, the companies BEGO Implant Systems, DMG, Dr. Jean Bausch, DÜRR DENTAL, Hager & Meisinger, HAGER + WERKEN, Heraeus Kulzer Dental, Hoffmann Dental Manufaktur, KaVo Dental and USTOMED INSTRUMENTE present their products — ten in total — on the topics of retaining original teeth, dental prosthetics and surgery. The Practice Area is followed by the Laboratory Area, where six exhibits from the companies Amann Girrbach, BEGO Medical, Gramm Technik, Sirona Dental Systems, VITA Zahnfabrik and WIELAND Dental + Technik are presented. They illustrate the areas of CAD/CAM, milling, lasers/sintering and materials. The equipment, systems, instruments and materials are arranged on workplaces so that visitors can try out all of the materials for themselves. What’s more, individual steps of the various process chains will be presented and explained by experts using the exhibited products.

The 16 innovations shown are a result of collaboration between the German dental industry and renowned universities and research laboratories. Visitors will find more detailed information about the research activities of the participating scientific institutes — namely the Jena University Hospital, Philipps Universität Marburg, the University Hospital of Cologne, the Shanghai Ninth People’s Hospital, the Beuth Hochschule für Technik in Berlin, the University of Boston, Universitätsklinikum Zurich, the Charité Berlin and the Fraunhofer Institute — on the sides and the rear wall of the exhibition cube.

On leaving the research station, the visitors will have the opportunity to be photographed with “new teeth” and to publish this gleaming smile on the “Wall of Smile“, or to take it home with them.

The German Dental Day with symposium
While the special show focuses on existing solutions, two highly renowned scientists and practicing doctors will present future approaches to solutions in dentistry as part of the German Dental Day. Professor Stefan Schultze-Mosgau, Director of the Clinic and Policlinic for Oral, Maxillo-facial and Plastic Surgery at Jena University Hospital, will speak on the topics “Recent Concepts for Implantation in Local Bone and Soft Tissue” and “Techniques for Reentry Operations and Soft Tissue Management”. Dr. Daniel Rothamel, Assistaent Doctor at the Clinic for Oral, Maxillo-facial and Plastic Facial Surgery at the University Hospital of Cologne, will deal with the topics “Augmentation of Alveolar Crest Defects Using Autogenous Bone” and “New Perspectives in Implantology”. The German Dental Day offers Chinese dentists an opportunity to learn about how these topics are being approached in Europe. The Chinese dental association classifies participation in the symposium as a further training measure in dentistry with 4 points in category 1.

Dental Technology from Germany @ Sino Dental 2013 will be presented by the German Ministry of Economics and Technology (BMWi) in cooperation with the Association of the German Trade Fair Industry (AUMA) and the Association of German Dental Manufacturers (VDDI). The event will once again be prepared and staged by the International Business Unit of Koelnmesse.
