Honours Night Report

On Wednesday, June 1, 2005 the Toronto Academy of Dentistry hosted its annual Honours Night Dinner, held at the Estates of Sunnybrook, in recognition of Past Presidents, Honourary Life Members, ODA 50-Year pin recipients and Service Award recipients.
The Academy gavel was passed from Past-President, Dr. Shayne Lipton, to our incoming President for 2005-06, Dr. Tim Milligan.
This year’s Service Award recipient was Ms. Erla Kay.
Erla retired from her duties at Oral Health in 2000, after an exemplary contribution of service to the dentists of Toronto. Her strong leadership skills, remarkable reputation as a “straight shooter”, has had a positive impact on the dental profession, and the Academy is delighted to have presented Erla with this award.
Inducted as Honourary Life Member was Dr. Norman Levine, B.A., D.D.S., Dip. Paed., M.Sc.D and F.R.C.D. (C), who retired in 2002 from his position at the Faculty of Dentistry, as Professor Emeritus having served as Assistant Dean, Associate Dean and Acting Dean for 1 year on two occasions. Dr. Levine has been a true clinical academic, teacher, author, research and administrator. One who believes that your education is never complete, but is an ongoing process with the ultimate goal the betterment of mankind.
We would like to extend a sincere thank you to our dentists and their guests, our dental industry colleagues who attended this wonderful event, and to our event sponsors who helped make this evening a success.
