Synergy Award Presented to Dental Wings ‘Optech’

The NSERC Synergy Awards for Innovation recognize partnerships in natural sciences and engineering research and development between higher learning institutions and Canadian industry, showcasing the benefits of pooling resources to make the most of ingenuity.

Optech, the optics and photonics technology-transfer centre at Cégep André-Laurendeau and XVP Engineering worked together with Dental Wings to develop high precision optical manufacturing techniques for Dental Wings’ Intraoral Scanner. Optech, led by Maroun Massabki and XVP Engineering, led by François Séguin, contributed extensive experience in photonic product development, manufacturing techniques and optomechanical design.

“We were innovating a very interesting new device that had specific optical assembly requirements. Fortunately for us, right here in Montreal, we found one of the best research institutes that could provide specific answers with industry-focused knowledge to help us accelerate our time to market with this project.” – Michael Rynerson, CEO, Dental Wings.

Based in part on their contributions to the development of the Dental Wings Intraoral Scanner, Optech and their industrial partner Dental Wings were awarded the NSERC Synergy Award for Innovation.

The entire Dental Wings organization extends an emphatic congratulations to the Optech and XVP teams for this outstanding recognition.
