Caveat emptor

The longer I practice, the more consumed I am with evidence versus eminence based science. Accelerator pedals lock, rubber flies off tires, SUV‘s are prone to rollover and endodontic files will break no matter who says no.

From the ROOTS forum.

The Patient was referred today. The RD came with the patient in my office to explain the case. ‘I heard in IFEA Athens last September, an Italian guy lecture about glide path made easy and I decided to give it a chance. I didn’t know the bloody Pathfile 3 was so prone to fracture. The Pathfiles 1& 2 are marvelous but the 3 broke the moment I first inserted it in the MB canal. My first case with broken Pathfiles. It wasn’t only the P3 but also two more broken P1 in the apical curves. I finally managed to retrieve the P3 and bypassed the other two. The ML canal was instrumented using pre -curved protapers by hand. I couldn’t get a rotary safely in the apical part of the ML canal.
