From ROOTS – this case is being reposted but since the discussion of decompression came up two times this week, I thought I would post as food for thought…..30 year old woman presented with continued severe pain associated with her upper central. Needs an extreme amount of restorative dentistry along with some intense cosmetic issues in the anterior with these two teeth, however, she has a special needs child that takes up most of her time and her days. I admire her for her efforts in that realm. The power of ‘mom’…..to simply get her out of pain so she could function, I removed the crowns and basically retreated the root canal and then turned around and immediately did apical surgery. The goal was to get her out of pain and buy her time. The last follow up was taken a few months ago and she is having problems with shifting of the teeth but otherwise the treatment bought her about 5 years…. Kudos to Dr. Barrington for his empathy and his skill.
