I had the opportunity to make the acquaintance of an e-learning genius, Dr. Ovidiu Ciobanu, some time ago. At the time we met, the use of 3D graphics and animations was NOT the province of presenters in the dental world nor a component of publication in dental journals. I have to believe that is about to change. The world is smartphone and iPAD driven. Apple released it’s new MacBook Pro line yesterday and in combination with the next OS from Apple, LION, many of the features we take for granted with iPads and the other unimportant tablet computers are now a function of laptop computing. I’d like to share samples of the calibre of the work done by Dr. Ciobanu who is now in the process of obtaining a licence to practice in Canada. I sincerely believe, there is soon to come a day, when traditional dental publications in article form will diminish and just as we are reading books on Kindle‘s and Kobo‘s, we’ll be learning from clinical case reports that will include graphics and animations that literally sing and dance.
