No humour is intended by this entry – in fact, if that’s what the title portends, then it’s more about whistling past the graveyard.

A woman pleaded guilty yesterday morning to arranging the murder of her employer at a Glen Burnie dental practice in 2006 in an attempt to cover up a theft scheme. Shontay Hickman of Baltimore, who turns 37 today, pleaded guilty to first-degree murder in county Circuit Court in Annapolis. Judge Pamela L. North sentenced her to life in prison. Her co-defendant and cousin, Dante Jeter, 24, will stand trial in mid-May. Hickman and Jeter both are charged with the Sept. 26, 2006, killing of Hickman’s employer, Dr. Albert Woonho Ro. Ro was found stabbed 39 times and beaten beyond recognition inside his dental practice in the Chatham Executive Office Complex, 1414 Crain Highway, said Assistant State’s Attorney Anne Colt Leitess.
