Endodontic retreatment has become a four letter word………depending on who is writing it’s epitaph or obituary, it has become the ginger haired bastard step-child of dentistry. It’s spoken of positively by some as cost-effective; however, by far too many others, it is discussed as a disaster waiting to happen and thus used as a synonym for extraction, grafting and immediate fixture placement.  Like all pendulum swings, reality will come home to roost (if you can cope with the mixed metaphor) as we as a profession cease our preoccupation with all that glitters and goes bump in the night and revert to the biologic mandate of fundamentalism – the good kind – and rethink the value of natural versus biomimetic replacement. UNTIL THEN!!! for your amusement, bemusement, erudition, juxtaposition and most importantly, for your missionary position…………here’s Antonis Chaniotis
