As technologic change innovates and disrupts the dental service mix, it seems odd that dental education is lagging so seriously behind the innovation and sophistication of product and equipment evident in all the dental disciplines. Why would anyone advocate learning cone beam tomography in a classroom setting, CEREC in a classroom setting, why does INVISALIGN not require certification (because all you need is a technician to treatment plan the case????), why is endo taught in acrylic blocks, why does any teaching modality in dentistry not incorporate the Z AXIS, the third dimension, is it because our patients are cardboard cutouts……nope…..
