I have just returned from the Speaking Consulting Network (SCN) meeting, held June 6th to 9th 2013, in Loveland, Colorado and what an amazing experience!
Approximately 200 + dynamic, high energy and enthusiastic individuals gathered to mix, mingle, share, learn and laugh, focusing on building skills as speakers, consultants, authors and contributors. SCN was founded 15 years ago by the legendary Linda Miles, who is recognized as one of the pioneers in the practice management/ dental speaking field and is now overseen by CEO and owner Lois Banta, founder of Banta Consulting, a leading practice management consulting firm. With a combined total of over 60 years of speaking and consulting expertise, these two ladies, along with a superb advisory committee and administrative team, delivered an incredibly well organized, well run event that featured a fantastic array of speakers, including Debbie Castagana and Virginia Moore; Bob Spiel, Mark LeBlanc, Janice Hurley Trailor and Tim Gard. Sponsoring partners include: CareCredit; Carestream; Curve Dental; Demand Force; Henry Schein; Patterson; Smile Reminder; and more.
Over the three days, all particpants at varying levels of experience (from “newbies” to 20 year veterans) learned about tools, products and skills that can help them grow and develop their expertise as writers , consultants and speakers serving the dental profession. With group sessions and social networking events, we came together and learned from each other, making lasting friendships along the way!
This is a meeting I would highly recommend to anyone who currently is, or is thinking about, doing any sort of consulting and/or speaking work. It is the ideal nurturing environment to learn from peers and experts.

Thanks to Lois, Linda and everyone at SCN for making me part of this fantastic group!

It was a great conference. As one of the new members, I can tell you that the sharing of information and learning new skills was secondary to all of the new friends that I made. This conference boosted my confidence and made me believe that I Can Do This!!! What a wonderful group of people. I am thankful to have the opportunity to be with so many talented members!
It was wonderful to have you at SCN…and so thrilled that the spirit of this amazing organization resonated with you.
You are right on in saying that anyone who is in the speaking, consulting or writing world of dentistry and wants to raise their game and take it to the next level needs to come to SCN. It is a game changer both personally and professionally.
So great meeting you in Colorado…and looking forward to seeing you in Tampa for SCN 2014 — and contributing to the Oral Health Journal between now and then.
