The Mighty Mathematician You’ve Never Heard Of

This entry has nothing whatsoever to do with mathematics. It has everything to do with women in dentistry. With more than 50% of today’s dental classes being represented by the fairer sex in N. America (the numbers are MUCH MUCH higher in many other countries), how is it that this percentage is not demonstrated on the speakers platforms or in journal publications. Women use social media in far greater numbers than men, the statistics don’t lie and yet, the majority of women in continuing education are in the practice management arena. There are exceptions of course, Debra Gray King, Barbara Steinberg, Natalie Wong, Jennifer Cha, Daniel Larose, Lori Trost – there are more; however, the ratio is once again unrelated to the numbers in practice, …………there is an association of women dentists in the US – http://www.aawd.org/, do read this http://www.jdentaled.org/content/70/11_suppl/5.full and then do the math:

All active private practitioners in N. America:  http://www.spiritofcaring.com/public/488.cfm – the statistics are mind boggling.

  • Then just for fun, read the article that prompted this entry Amalie Noether

And if you got this far and are a female dentist – then please comment, we’d all like to hear an opinion from the fairer sex…..
