You probably have an established online marketing strategy for your dental practice already, including social networking via Facebook, Twitter or other social media. At least a few of your social media members may be commenting, sharing, retweeting or liking some of your social content.
However, if you are not responding back to them or acknowledging their engagement in any way, you may be losing the opportunity to build on the initiative shown by your network members. It is important to remember that social engagement is not a one-way street, and it requires both sides to be responsive to each other. Here are three useful tips that can help boost your social networking activity to your professional advantage:
Return the Likes, Follows and Tweets
A simple ‘like’ on Facebook or a ‘tweet’ on Twitter can be the beginning of a new relationship. When someone takes that initiative, you can reciprocate by liking them back, or respond them back on Twitter with a simple thank-you note or a short acknowledgement. Even if you use a standardized reply for the lack of time, it is still better than not responding back at all.
Build on the Conversation
If someone has commented on your Facebook, Twitter or another social account, you may use the opportunity to convert a standalone comment into an interactive conversation that may draw in more members as well. You can respond back with a question or lead on the conversation with your response in such a way that it arouses the interest and curiosity of other members within the network.
Include References and Links to your Website
When you engage with your target audience over social media, take care to make references and links to your website, blog, online columns, eBooks, YouTube videos, slide shows or such other material from time to time. This will make the engagement more enriching and beneficial for your dental practice.
