In this article, we will list some important points to keep in mind while writing your cv along with a dentist resume sample explaining each point.

Follow the Traditional Format

If you want to make a unique resume, do it in the contents, not in the structure. Dentists like to see things in an orderly manner. HR will not give more than a few seconds to scan. With the traditional format and certain highlighted parts, you can get in the pile of selected ones. For more examples, investigate this site. The format should be laid in the following manner:

  • Objective or summary
  • Dental achievements required by your job
  • Education
  • Skill-set
  • Extra sections

Even the following example is from the PM expert, this is a sample of how your resume should look like when we talk about style, design, and order of contents. Also, pay attention to the fact that it is not too crowded but all the necessary information has been included.

Resume Summary or Objective

To create an effective resume, you have to decide whether you need to start with a summary or an objective. It is simple. If you have dental work experience after your medical school, you need a summary. If you don’t have any experience, the objective is the way to begin your resume.

It is suggested to not start both summary or objective with “I”. “I have 3 years experience” or “I have just graduated from dentistry school” these sentences are boring and of poor-quality. This is the place where you let the creativity flow. Instead, write “with extensive dental experience of 3 years” or “A fresh graduate from (name of university)”.

Following is an example of a resume summary for a dentist. We have also provided a poor-quality version that usually gets rejected. Also, focus on the way the numbers are in numerical and not in words. It is easy to spot them. Additionally, compare the style of writing in the summary and objective.

Resume Objective

A resume objective has the same goal as a summary. Just don’t mention that you lack work experience. There are better ways of saying that. This is a sample resume objective for a dental hygienist. Look at the following comparison.

Describing Your Experience

This is probably the most important section that HR will look at. Your experience is what most of the employers are counting on. Therefore, you need to put each achievement and bit of experience you had in a simple and professional manner. Divide your work section into 3 parts namely:

  • Timeline,
  • Responsibilities,
  • Achievements.

If you have worked in some research, you can mention a separate section “research”.

We want to highlight the organization of the work experience in the given sample. It is clean and informative. Do not list everything you have like some procedure you did for your relative. Note the way the responsibilities have been written. There is no personal pronoun “I”.

Add the Skills Required

If you have listed all your skills, it is going to take more than a few seconds to find out what they want. They will probably add it to trash because they think you have just copied it or added it to exaggerate. Therefore, you can remove all the skills and add the ones which they are looking for. Of course, you cannot leave the resume with 2 skills so add the main ones and 2-3 more. There are dental working skills, soft skills, and special skills.

While creating a list of skills, you don’t have to stick to the traditional methods of mentioning them. You may explain the points which show that you are interested and have enough knowledge. The more dental terms you use, the more likely your resume will end up in the selected pile. Look at the following sample which clearly shows that the person has an interest in this field.

Finish it With a Cover Letter

Every resume needs a cover letter. As per recent statistics, about 50% of all employers read the cover letter to get convinced. The cover letter has to be brief, persuasive, and strong. If you send a cover letter directing them personally (name of HR head, their achievements, the location of the dental clinic), it is way more appealing. Your cover letter should consider the following points:

  • Short introduction about yourself and your compelling background (1-2 sentences).
  • Illuminate your skills as to why you are the perfect person for this job (2-3 sentences).
  • Explain why you want to work with them. Mention the achievements and machinery they have that interests you (2-3 sentences).
  • Finish it by a strong call to read your resume and consider you for the job (1-2 sentences).

Here, we provide a sample of the cover letter and the respective resume corresponding to it. The spaces between the sentences, the wording used, and the organization of the points are important to note.
