Toronto CEREC Study Club and Ivoclar Vivadent Lecture

I was privileged last week to be part of a special programme put on by the Toronto CEREC Study Club and Ivoclar Vivadent. The session was entitled “Contemporary Ceramics: A Closer Look at the Materials”.

After a wonderful cocktail hour with generous refreshments and wonderful opportunities to network, the 30 plus attendees were ushered into the presentation room. The moderator for the evening was Dr. George Tyskowsky, VP of Technology for Ivoclar Vivadent, who introduced the two speakers for the event.

First up was Dr. Van Thomson, Chair of Biomaterials and Biometrics at NYU. Dr. Thomson spoke on material science and helped us understand the science relevant to clinical success.

Following him was Dr. Thomas Teel from Indiana, where he maintains a private practice dedicated to aesthetic, CAD/CAM and comprehensive dentistry. Dr. Teel showed us some results from his own practice and how the materials he uses can provide great results for patients, clinically and aesthetically.

These two experts summarized the material science and the clinical highlights related to contemporary ceramics.

The evening wrapped up with a lovely take home gift and a delicious dessert. Overall, the evening was quite a treat!
