Martin Tyas to address IDEM-GC Symposium

IDEM Singapore1Former FDI Science Committee Chair Prof. Martin Tyas will be among five expert speakers to address the IDEM-GC Symposium ‘Towards the Post-Amalgam Era’, to be held on 9 April during IDEM Singapore 2016. His lecture will discuss the origins of the Minamata Convention on Mercury and its impact on dental practice.

Prof. Tyas is an expert in the clinical evaluation of adhesive materials and minimum intervention dentistry. He was adviser to the former FDI Dental Amalgam Task Team (superseded in 2013 by the Dental Restoration Materials Task Team), set up in Singapore in 2009 “to ensure that the international dental community and issues regarding dental amalgam were properly and accurately represented in United Nations discussions regarding mercury and would be based on the best available science”.
