CandidPro—Adding Significant Capabilities

by Lou Shuman, DMD, CAGS, CEO and Founder of Cellerant Consulting

If you think that providing clear aligners is a complex and unpredictable process, it’s time to get Candid with your patients – literally. CandidPro is a clear aligner platform that provides oversight and integrated orthodontic treatment planning with licensed orthodontists. The platform is simple to use, and the opportunity to obtain support from orthodontists brings clinical comfort to treating clear aligner patients. A part of the system is its AI-enabled CandidMonitoring™ solution that enables a high-quality, clinical-level asynchronous check of the patient every 2 weeks through the Candid app. After listening to doctors’ requests for improvements that would allow experience providers to use CandidPro for 90-100% of their clear aligner case volume, with the debut of Gen 2, the CandidPro system offers even more.

Gen 2 of CandidPro features four new significant capabilities – IPR, attachments, bite ramps, and pontics. The aligners’ design and material provides a consistent, durable force throughout a 1-to-2 week wear schedule that reduces the need for refinements, but attachments still may be requested for specific types of orthodontic finishes. For certain patients, pontics can be critical, so Gen 2 contains a robust rollout of different variations of pontics; for example, if a patient is missing a tooth or has an unerupted second molar. Treatment capabilities within the software will continue to be expanded to ensure that doctors have the choices that they need at their fingertips.

Also in Gen 2, a plan with three levels of customer support for CandidPro dental partners has been created from user feedback and data. First, sales reps in the field can provide assistance in-person in the office. Second, dedicated remote virtual support, based in Columbus, Ohio, is available for ongoing tracking of cases, information, and partnership in conjunction with the company’s clinical support team based in Costa Rica. Clinicians with more involved questions can ask Candid faculty, as well as on-staff U.S.-licensed orthodontists for robust clinical support and treatment planning. The support in the form of synchronous and asynchronous video, written communication, and phone calls, is especially appreciated by doctors who may not yet have enough clinical confidence to prescribe clear aligners without additional backup. For patients, live support through the Candid app efficiently answers nonclinical questions, taking that task off of the office, doctor and the staff.
The future of the CandidPro platform has been made even brighter with the recent announcement of a partnership with Royal Philips, a global leader in health technology, which will help to support the development of its professional network and service platform. Philips Sonciare is an incredibly well-known, well-established brand with a history of clinical excellence. Nick Greenfield, Chief Executive Officer at Candid, says, “Knowing they are putting their trust in our clear aligner solution will help providers realize that CandidPro is an exceptional product.” One of the hallmarks of the new partnership with Philips Sonicare is the roll out of a robust education program that minimizes risk and increases predictability. The Candid Academy will offer information to guide doctors of all skill levels, from beginners with the program to those who are ready to expand their skill sets and capabilities. This best-in-class technology and a game-changing approach to partnership will make delivery of quality aligners not only possible but achievable. With more confidence in treatment plans comes more accurate aligners, and that translates to satisfied patient experiences and expanded practice options.
