Merely contemplating oral and/or maxillofacial surgery is often stressful and worrisome to patients about to undergo procedures. To reduce such anxiety and apprehension, the Davis Clinic in Vaughan, Ontario, was designed to exude a contemporary, inviting, and reassuring ambience.

The clean, uncluttered design is evident immediately upon entering. Three-dimensional wall panelling behind the reception desk serves as a visual anchor and is suggestive of structure and order. The warm tone of the room, pendant lighting, and view into the light-filled waiting area, all serve to inspire trust and make patients feel welcome and comfortable.

In the waiting area, the television, fireplace and other personal touches further enhance the friendly, relaxing environment. The artwork and area rug are dynamic and colourful, and were chosen specifically to add a vibrancy and cheerfulness to the room.

The glass entrance into the treatment hallway is remotely controlled at the reception desk to ensure patient privacy in the surgery area. The treatment area itself is calm and understated, transitioning into a practical aesthetic that focuses on advanced technology.

Form and function combine effectively within the consultation room, two surgical ops, operating room, stericentre and recovery area, all defined by a minimalist colour palette, and state-of-the-art equipment.

Modern, ordered design, and high level of quality in the finishing materials, serve to reflect the high treatment standards of Dr. Joel Davis and the clinic team, and successfully elicit patient trust and confidence in the doctors and the treatment about to be received.
