Office Space: Go Orthodontics

THE WHY: The Owner’s Story

Go Orthodontics is a long-standing orthodontic practice that has served the downtown Montreal community and surrounding areas for nearly 40 years. This well-established family-owned practice is the pride of Dr. Rosalinda Go and Dr. Nicholas Go Thorpe, who also happen to be a mother-son principal dentist team. While growing up, Nicholas enjoyed spending time in his mom’s practice and seeing how she blended art and science to provide beauty and enhanced health to orthodontic patients. He was eventually inspired to follow in her professional footsteps. During dental school, he enjoyed spending the summer months in the office, where he gained a deeper understanding of how to run a successful, highly impactful orthodontic practice. In 2014, after graduating from the University of The Pacific, he and his mother decided to join entrepreneurial forces. They knew they would eventually require a larger space to accommodate their growth.

THE HOW: Planning & Preparation

In 2018, they found two suitable locations: One in Brossard, Quebec, 15 minutes away, and one in the heart of downtown Montreal being featured here. They ultimately decided to acquire both. Go Orthodontics is a 7-chair, high-tech, completely digital facility which dedicates its workflow to Invisalign orthodontic services. They decided to purchase a pre-construction commercial unit with great street exposure located on the ground floor of a residential condo building. With this, they now have the safety, freedom, and business benefits as landlords. The original practice taught them to appreciate the value of a well-designed space that will ultimately impact their brand, comfort, and day-to-day life in the office for years to come. They invested in designing a well-laid-out facility with highly durable, socially appealing materials to enhance the office’s beauty, flow, and functions. Being a re-location allowed them to remain fully open and operational during construction. This gave them an unrushed flexibility to be more selective and creative with their tastes, allowing them to choose custom-made elements and unique materials for the practice.

THE RESULTS: Technical Design Features

Their practice is an artful blend of various elements, including texture, colour, and detail. One can see gold colours and shades in custom-made mesh curtains, metal stair railings, door handles and assorted hardware. The unique gold colour scheme sets the tone for class and elegance throughout the office. The clinical area consists of 2 private operatories with five open-concept semi-private clinical chairs separated by mesh curtains. The ultra-high loft-like ceilings and floor-to-ceiling windows create a bright, spacious feeling of openness. Wires have been skillfully hidden from view during construction, creating a cohesive, clean, visually pleasing interior design. Patients love sitting in the unique reception area, an elevated patio-like platform with comfortable seating above a beautiful shallow pond-like rectangular water feature.

THE IMPACT: Empowered Practice Outcomes

Montreal has an exciting, condensed downtown core where people enjoy walking outside in the summer. There is also an intricate network of tunnels and indoor spaces home to numerous shops, restaurants, cafes, and entertainment venues, all connected by a series of walkways and escalators. This practice is truly a family affair that has sprouted into a beautiful business that serves great orthodontic care to its patients. They are so proud to be expanding their reach and serving their local communities in this one-of-a-kind, uniquely designed practice that has become a top 1% Invisalign provider in North America.
