Dentists Register to Lobby as Clock Ticks on Liberals’ Dental Care Promise

This week the lobby registry saw multiple registrations by the board of directors at the Canadian Dental Association.

Last month, president Dr. Lynn Tomkins and interim CEO Dr. Aaron Burry participated in a roundtable of oral health stakeholders with Health Minister Jean-Yves Duclos about the government’s promise to launch a national dental care plan.

The program is a key part of the Liberal government’s supply-and-confidence deal with the NDP. In April, the federal budget earmarked $5.3 billion over five years for the program. Children under 12 years old from families whose incomes are less than $90,000 annually will be the first to benefit from the program when it launches.
