On October 16th, the Dr. Edward B. Shils Entrepreneurial Fund, Inc. presented Dr. Teresa A. Dolan, Vice President and Chief Clinical Officer at Dentsply Sirona, with the Innovator Award for Excellence in Industry. The award recognizes Dr. Dolan’s “entrepreneurial efforts, dedicated leadership and unique skill set, which has enabled the technologically driven oral health education program of Dentsply Sirona to reach more than 400,000 dental professionals worldwide”.
Dentsply Sirona Vice President and Chief Clinical Officer Dr. Teresa A. Dolan recently received the prestigious Innovator Award for Excellence in Industry from the Dr. Edward B. Shils Entrepreneurial Fund, Inc. The award was given last October 16 during the Shils Stars Annual Dental Student Entrepreneur Competition & Innovator Awards reception at the NYU College of Dentistry, New York City.
“I am honored to accept this award on behalf of Dentsply Sirona’s global Clinical Affairs team,” said Dr. Dolan. “We are proud to have successfully implemented one of the most comprehensive and in-demand clinical education programs in the dental industry, and pleased to see that a growing number of dental professionals is taking advantage of and being empowered by our training offerings.”
Clinical education for dental professionals worldwide
In 2018, more than 432,000 dental professionals from 99 countries participated in the Dentsply Sirona clinical education program. The program’s overall objective is to support the implementation of innovative solutions and therefore empower dentists, technicians, and dental team members to improve dental care and oral health. The three key course topics include endodontics, implant dentistry and restorative dentistry. Besides traditional live lectures and product trainings, the Clinical Affairs’ program comprises innovative active learning and engagement methods, including simulated and patient demonstrations of procedures and workflows. Registrations for the on-demand course offering continue to grow as it allows participants to adjust the training to their individual schedules.
Dr. Teresa Dolan has been leading the global Clinical Affairs team at Dentsply Sirona since 2013, after serving as professor and dean of the University College of Dentistry, Florida, from 2003 until 2013. In her role as Chief Clinical Officer, Dr. Dolan provides strategic direction for global Dentsply Sirona professional education activities in accordance with the standards and guidelines of the American Dental Association Continuing Education Recognition Program (ADA CERP). She also is actively engaging with the various business units to support their unique clinical initiatives and strategies. Dr. Dolan is a member of the board of directors of the Dr. Edward B. Shils Entrepreneurial Fund, Inc.
