“I Don’t Know What My Competitors Charge”

Stay on top of the competition. A good place to start is to know who and where your competition is, yet 17.4 per cent of Canadian dentists* don’t know how their fees compare to other dentists in their area.

While there are many factors (region, practice size, etc.) to determine if this should be a concern in your practice or not, awareness is never a fault in a successful practice. Patients WILL do their research to find the best deal for the best service and if that isn’t you… sorry, but you’re out of luck.

Educate yourself on fees in the region (of similar AND different sized practices) and consider ways to compete. This doesn’t necessarily mean changing your fees, but perhaps promoting your great services and patient experience to justify what you’re charging.

Let us know: Are you aware of where your competition stands?

*Between February and March 2018, RKI, a third party independent research house, conducted a 10-minute online survey of active, practicing non-hospital affiliated dentists and dental specialists on behalf of Oral Health. Using Oral Health’s subscription list, a total of 398 dentists participated in the study (with 219 completing the survey to the end). Assuming a total of 20,000 dentists in Canada (and 398 total completes) the margin of error for the survey is +/- 4.86, 95% CI.
