Elderly Aged Care Residents In Teeth Cleaning Trial Had Better Health Outcomes, Researchers Say

From the moment we can hold a toothbrush, we are told to clean our teeth at least twice a day — but by the time we reach our twilight years, our teeth are largely neglected.

Now, a Tasmanian trial has shown the simple act of brushing an elderly person’s teeth two times a day, can help save their life.

The trial was conducted at two aged care homes in northern Tasmania, chosen for their higher rates of chest infection.
