A receptionist at the Giggles dental clinic in south Guelph answered the phone Wednesday: “How may I make you smile today?”
But the table has turned: the dental profession’s government body put a happy face on staff by announcing it was allowing the clinic to retain its unusual name.
“The name’s been approved by the executive committee,” said Irwin Fefergrad, registrar for the Toronto-based Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario. That ends the matter, he added, referring to a dispute with the clinic over a name it had initially rejected, terming it demeaned to the integrity or dignity of the profession.
