In Anticipation of World Smile Day®, Dentsply Sirona and DS World 2021 Attendees Came Together to Help Hundreds of Cleft-Affected Children Gain Healthier Smiles.

At this year’s Dentsply Sirona World (DS World) in Las Vegas, Dentsply Sirona announced the launch of a wide-ranging new partnership with Smile Train, the world’s largest cleft-focused organization. To further broaden the impact of this partnership, Dentsply Sirona offered to match donations made to Smile Train by participants at Dentsply Sirona World 2021.

October 1st is World Smile Day® – a day devoted to smiles and acts of kindness all over the globe. In anticipation of World Smile Day®, Dentsply Sirona asked participants at this year’s DS World in Las Vegas to join them in supporting Smile Train to help change the lives of children born with clefts. In just three days, the Company and its partners came together to fund cleft surgeries for hundreds of children around the world.

Going beyond through the partnership with Smile Train

Dentsply Sirona is taking action to support Smile Train’s work with the launch of a five-year renewable partnership aimed at having a lasting, long-term, positive impact. Dentsply Sirona has committed to donating $5,000,000 to Smile Train through the partnership. Smile Train’s local medical professionals are already leveraging digital technologies such as the company’s Primescan intraoral scanners and are developing innovative protocols that minimize the travel required by patients and their families to improve access to care.

In addition to funding life-changing cleft surgeries and providing free dental equipment, the collaboration focuses on clinical education initiatives to global oral health professionals in local communities and empower them to provide treatment and raise the standard of care to the highest level. Dentsply Sirona is making its entire online catalog of clinical education courses available to all Smile Train oral health professionals.

“We are genuinely inspired by the way the DS World attendees came together to help support Smile Train’s efforts around the world,” said Susannah Schaefer, President & Chief Executive Officer, Smile Train. “We are very proud to work with dental professionals and are excited about the impact that our partnership with Dentsply Sirona will have on both the healthcare professionals in the communities working with our organization and on the children that they treat.”

On World Smile Day® – a day devoted to smiles and acts of kindness all over the globe – Smile Train and Dentsply Sirona, together with help from the participants at DS World, are giving children with clefts around the world a new reason to smile and helping them to live a happier and healthier life.
