Many Canadians Missing Out on Dental Benefits

According to CTV News, a new report has shown that thousands of Canadians may not have received any help from the dental and housing benefits that were implemented last year to help with the rising cost of living.

David Macdonald, senior economist at the Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives, conducted an analysis that found that only just over half of people eligible for the Canada Dental Benefit have received it. The benefit was predicted to cost $353 million for 2022-23, but only $156.3 million has been distributed as of end of March.

“The government is failing to move this money to the people who need it most, that are going to have the most difficulty in affording higher prices due to inflation. And that’s a shame,” Macdonald said.
