Monitoring Monkeypox Cases in Ontario

The Ministry of Health Emergency Operations Center has asked the College to distribute this update regarding monkeypox in Ontario.

Effective June 16, 2022, the monkeypox virus is designated a Disease of Public Health Significance under the Health Protection and Promotion Act (HPPA). This means that regulated health professionals, including dentists, are required to report suspected cases of the monkeypox virus directly to the local Medical Officer of Health in accordance with the reporting requirements in the HPPA.
