Scientists Find This Bacteria Could Preserve Oral Health

A new study found that daily probiotic use reduces risks of gingivitis and improves oral health. The trial involved half of the participants being given probiotic lozenges containing the bacterial strain Bifidobacterium lactis HN019 while the other half was given a placebo.

The research took eight weeks and results showed that those given the probiotic had a lower level of gingivitis. Bleeding on probing (BoP), Gingival Index (GI), Plaque Index (PI), probing depth (PD), and clinical attachment level (CAL) were evaluated.
