Inside an airy Financial District studio, two chipper women dressed like flight attendants greeted me, took my coat and led me to a mirror-walled room so I could freshen up. After five minutes of snapping selfies in gorgeous lighting, I swanned into the appointment suite for some aggressive plaque removal.
This was not your standard trip to the dentist.
But it’s increasingly becoming the norm in NYC, where dental offices are getting quite the makeover. A spate of new, millennial-friendly startups are upgrading the tooth doctor’s office with fancy digs and bougie amenities. Their goal? To rebrand the twice-annual cleaning from a dreaded chore to the self-care event of the season.
