Unhoused Individuals Struggle to Find Dental Care in Kingston, Ont.

Global News recently reported on Richard Hewitt from Kingston, Ont., who has been living with a gum infection for almost a decade. Due to the difficulty unhoused members of the community face to receive dental work, this infection has cost him all of his teeth.

Acting executive director of Our Livable Solutions, Chrystal Wilson, has been working to help, but has found it difficult as the Ontario Disability Support Program has not been keeping up with the rising dental costs. She is advocating for more changes to the system to help more unhoused people have healthy smiles, which will aid them when reintegrating into society.
