Virtual Race for Smiles Raising Awareness of Domestic Violence in 4th Annual Event

gocartsThe American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry Charitable Foundation’s Give Back a Smile program will be hosting its 4th annual Virtual Race for Smiles, October 14 – 16, 2016.

The Virtual Race for Smiles occurs during Domestic Violence Awareness Month and is intended to raise awareness of domestic violence as well as raise funds to support smile restorations for survivors of domestic and sexual violence through the AACD Charitable Foundation’s Give Back a Smile (GBAS) program.

What started as a local 5K has since become a virtual event, allowing supporters of GBAS to participate no matter where they are in the world. Last year, 200 people participated world-wide and raised more than $8,000 for GBAS. “The Race for Smiles is a great opportunity for the entire team to step out of the office for a bit, have some fun together and support a great cause,” explains Lisa Fitch, CAE and Director of AACD Charitable Foundation.

Since the event has gone virtual, participants are becoming more and more creative with their participation. From bowling, to the driving range, and even go-karts, dental teams, and even their four-legged companions, have been doing their part to raise awareness of domestic violence and support smile restorations through GBAS.

Registration is now open for the 2016 Virtual Race for Smiles. For more information and to register, visit http://www.aacd.com/raceforsmiles.

About Give Back a Smile

The American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry Charitable Foundation’s (AACDCF) Give Back a Smile (GBAS) program heals some of the most devastating effects of domestic and sexual violence, by restoring the smiles of adult women and men who have suffered dental injuries to the front 8 teeth only, from a former intimate partner or spouse, family member or due to sexual assault.
