‘A toothbrush symphony’ to celebrate World Oral Health Day

FDI World Dental Federation has commissioned a short film entitled ‘A toothbrush symphony’—music created from brushing, gargling and rinsing—to celebrate World Oral Health Day on 20 March 2013.

The film will have its avant-première at a press launch in Geneva, streamed live from the FDI website (www.fdiworldental/WOHD-Live) on 18 March at 10:00 (Central European Time). For FDI, ‘A toothbrush symphony’ is a fun and entertaining way of heightening public perception about the importance of oral health and hygiene.

The theme of World Oral Health Day is ‘Health teeth for a healthy life’. Speakers at the Geneva event are: FDI President Dr Orlando Monteiro da Silva and Dr Roberto Labella and Dr Analia Mendez respectively from sponsors Listerine (Johnson & Johnson) and Unilever Oral Care.

Says FDI President Dr Orlando Monteiro da Silva: “There is a real crisis in oral health today in both industrialised and developing countries. World Oral Health Day 2013 is an opportunity to encourage individuals, families, communities and governments to take urgent action to lower the incidence of oral disease.”

“Working together, we can prevent the epidemic of caries, gum diseases and tooth loss and help our communities maintain a solid dentition for life,” emphasizes Dr da Silva.
