AACD Announces Hawary, Bassett, as Newly Accredited Fellows

Drs. Joyce Bassett and Emil Hawary have earned Accredited Fellow status in the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry (AACD).

Fellowship is the highest level of achievement available to AACD members. Its purpose is to provide an additional level of achievement for members in accordance with the AACD’s mission of education and excellence.

To achieve this honor, Drs. Bassett and Hawary completed a rigorous examination process consisting of 50 clinical case submissions.

“By achieving Fellowship, Drs. Bassett and Hawary show their passion for and commitment to the field of cosmetic dentistry and esthetic excellence,” said Dr. Brian LeSage, AACD Fellowship chairperson. “The smile is their life’s work.”

Dr. Bassett, of Scottsdale, Ariz., exemplifies her life’s commitment to the dentistry field through her involvement with many dental organizations. She currently serves on the AACD Board of Directors, and is a past chairperson for the AACD Charitable Foundation’s Give Back a Smile program. She is an associate member of the American Academy of Esthetic Dentistry, a KOIS mentor, a fellow in the Academy of General Dentistry, and an active member of the Academy of Fixed Prosthodontics. Dr. Bassett is also a past president of the Arizona Academy of General Dentistry and is a recipient of the volunteer dentist of the year for Arizona CASS dental clinic.

Dr. Bassett also devotes much of her time to dental education and helping further others’ knowledge of the field. She teaches the aesthetic continuum at the Arizona School of Dentistry and is the founder of Women Teaching Women, Cosmetic Learning Facility. She is a national lecturer and is a member of the editorial board of several peer-reviewed publications and a published author in numerous dental publications.

Dr. Hawary, of Irvine, Calif., is a Fellow of the Academy of General Dentistry, and a Fellow and Diplomate of the International Congress of Oral Implantologists. Dr. Hawary graduated from Cairo University in Egypt.

Hawary traveled to the United States to expand his training, learn from the masters, and find his true passion—cosmetic dentistry. Dr. Hawary maintains a private practice in Irvine, dedicated to excellence in cosmetic and reconstructive dentistry. He’s had cases published in the Journal of Cosmetic Dentistry, and has been awarded multiple gold medals in the former AACD Smile Gallery.

Both will be honored for their achievement at AACD 2013 in Seattle, April 24-27.
