HIGHLIGHTS FROM THE 2007 ADA MEETING
The 148th Annual Session of the ADA was held recently in San Francisco. With approximately 50,000 dental professionals in attendance, the meeting was a great success!
The World Marketplace Exhibition featured thousands of products from more than 700 leading dental dealers and manufacturers, in a space of 442,000 square feet.
It was an excellent opportunity for dentists and their teams to browse and learn more about many exciting and innovative new products and services on display.
The ADAs Distinguished Speaker Series, sponsored by Johnson & Johnson Oral Health Products once again featured great speakers, this year Barbara Walters and Lance Armstrong. Ms. Walters shared experiences gleaned from her more than 25 years in broadcasting. Lance Armstrong, seven-time winner of the Tour de France and a celebrated sports figure, took the audience along for a ride as he shared his renowned passion and drive for bicyclingand his fight against cancer.
As is always the case, ADA featured a number of world-renowned lecturers and speakers, sharing their knowledge on a wide array of dental topics. Some speaker highlights included:
Dr. Ray Padilla on New Advances in Sports Dentistry; Dr. Henry Lee with New Advances in Forensic Science and Odontology; Dr. Barbara Steinberg with Dental and Medical Considerations in Treating the Mature Female Patient; Dr. Scott Benjamin on Oral Cancer Detection.
There was also a panel discussion on Oral Longevity and Healthy Aging. At this years session, on September 27th, GlaxoSmithKline Consumer Healthcare, the ADA and the ADA Foundation announced a new initiative, Oral Longevity that will focus on improving and maintaining the oral health of older adults, a growing segment of our population.
New for 2007 was an interactive multimedia learning experience, Education in the Round which delivered 14 courses in a high-tech, demonstrative setting. This experience was designed to expose dental professionals to in-person, cutting-edge research, live patient demonstrations and products and techniques that allow for real-time interactions with the instructors.
