Established with the support of the Dental Industry Association of Canada (DIAC), Canada’s ToothFairy: National Children’s Oral Health Foundation of Canada™ is a non-profit organization dedicated to eliminating children’s preventable suffering from pediatric dental disease – the leading chronic disease affecting children in Canada.
To mark the launch of Canada’s ToothFairy and to increase awareness, education and care for at-risk children, two spring events will be held. The first is the Canada’s ToothFairy Smile Drive, a national campaign held throughout April, National Oral Health Month, to collect oral care products for at-risk children. Students, businesses, health professionals, and other volunteer groups will collect and donate toothbrushes, toothpaste and other oral care items by holding community collection drives. Toothbrushes and toothpaste collected through the Smile Drive will be distributed to local shelters, Canada’s ToothFairy Affiliate clinical partners, and other non-profit organizations caring for underserved children and their families across the country.
Dental practices and companies serving as Smile Drive collection sites will receive recognition in the National Smile Drive Directory, and all registered volunteers will receive a promotional toolkit with comprehensive resources.
The second event, held May 4-10, is the ToothFairy Auction, an online fundraiser designed to engage caring companies and individuals across the dental industry in saving the smiles of vulnerable children. Corporations are participating by donating valuable dental equipment, products, and personal items for the auction.
Auction items include:
Dental equipment and products featured in the auction can be previewed in person on the exhibit floor at the Ontario Dental Association Annual Spring Meeting held May 7-9, 2015, in Toronto. Thanks to the generosity of the Dental Industry Association of Canada (DIAC) and other corporate supporters, 100% of auction proceeds will be allocated to smile-saving programs for Canada’s children.
