Carestream Dental Hosts Hands-On Workshops at the 2014 Chicago Dental Society Midwinter Meeting

Courses Will Focus on CAD/CAM, 3D Imaging and Practice Management Solutions

Carestream Dental is hosting two workshops to teach attendees about the latest innovations in imaging and practice management software at the 2014 Chicago Dental Society Midwinter Meeting.

First, Carestream Dental is partnering with other software manufacturers to co-host a workshop, titled “Practice Management Software Unleashed,” on Thursday, Feb. 20, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. This workshop will cover practice management systems and Electronic Health Records (EHR). Afterwards, Carestream Dental will host its own workshop, titled “Much More Than Software: Carestream Dental,” on Saturday, Feb. 22, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. This workshop is designed for CS SoftDent and CS PracticeWorks users, as well as oral health professionals interested in learning about Carestream Dental’s integrated digital solutions. Practitioners can earn up to three CE credits for participating in each workshop for a total of six CE credits.

“The Chicago Midwinter Meeting is a very popular event, so it’s a great time for us to reach out and educate practitioners on the latest technology,” said Alistair Bruce, general manager of Carestream Dental’s global practice management software business.

Thursday’s course will begin with a lecture from renowned dentist Dr. Barry Freydberg on how to make a cohesive digital patient record that fits into the EHR structure mandated by the federal government. Three hands-on workshops will follow to educate attendees on the latest in practice management systems, including the differences between on-site, Web-based and hybrid systems; the importance of integrating clinical applications within a system; and the differences between Web-based applications within a software program and a completely Web-based system. Attendees will also learn how to properly migrate to an EHR.

On Saturday, Dr. Freydberg will explain how practices can maximize their current software and imaging products to enhance workflow. In addition, there will be four hands-on workshops led by product specialists focusing on different topics:

  • Much More Than Software: Carestream Dental – Practitioners interested in integrating CAD/CAM technology into their practice will learn about the development and features of CS Solutions, Carestream Dental’s CAD/CAM portfolio. This section will also explain how CS Solutions easily integrates with CS PracticeWorks and CS SoftDent, as well as cover the open-format technology of the products.
  • How Your Practice Can Benefit from the Cloud – This course will provide an overview of how cloud-based practice management software works and benefits practices. Practitioners will learn how the cloud platform differs from average software, as well as how it can reduce IT costs and improve access to patient files.
  • 3D Imaging Software Made Easy – This course will provide tips on how practices can best implement 3D imaging technology to meet their clinical needs and fit within their day-to-day workflow. Participants will explore the different applications of 3D imaging, as well as the various methods of examining a scan to derive the most information from it.
  • CS SoftDent and CS PracticeWorks Product Roadmap – Users of CS SoftDent and CS PracticeWorks will learn about the latest features included in each software. Product specialists will be on hand to speak with attendees and discuss the latest functionality enhancements as well as share what to expect from upcoming releases of the software.

“As a product line manager, I enjoy having this opportunity to speak with our software customers face to face,” said Jeff Urkevich, product line manager for Carestream Dental’s CS SoftDent software. “Their feedback is essential as we continually look for ways to enhance our products and provide our customers with the best workflow possible.”
