DATES ANNOUNCED FOR IDEA DAKAR 2015
FDI World Dental Federation and IDEA Dakar have announced that the FDI African Summit and 1st International Dental Exhibition in Africa (IDEA) will be held in Dakar, Senegal, from 17 to 19 October 2015. The event, originally scheduled from 8 to 10 November 2014, had to be postponed due to the Ebola outbreak in countries of the region. 
IDEA Dakar 2015 has two aims: for FDI, to provide leadership training to 20 African National Dental Associations (NDAs) as part of the Strategy for Africa, developed at a previous African Summit in Cape Town. For IDEA Dakar, the objective is to attract major international dental manufacturers wishing to expand their business on the African continent with an exhibition uniquely focused on Africa.
It is the first of a series of three dental events in Dakar for the period 2014-2016 inclusive. For the purposes of these events, FDI has entered into a three-year agreement with international and local partner IDEA Dakar. They will be developed in partnership with UNIDI, the Italian Dental Manufacturers Association.
IDEA Dakar 2015 is expected to be one of the most important dental sector events on the African continent in 2015, attracting broad attendance from African businesses and professionals and the support of the major local professional associations and the Ministry of Health of Senegal.
Key international dental businesses as well as numerous Italian dental industries have re-confirmed their participation.
As far as social initiatives are concerned, the Italian foundation of ANDI (Association of Italian Dentists) will set up an education program entirely dedicated to prevention for children. The educating program will focus on local dentists and teachers of primary schools.
