First International Cosmetic Dental Conference A Success!

First International Cosmetic Dental Conference a Success

It was a first. When cosmetic dentistry’s premier organizations – the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, the British Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, the Dental University of Paris Study Group, the European Society of Cosmetic Dentistry, and the German Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry – gathered to bring the foremost cosmetic dental program in the world to London, England, September 23-25, 2010, it was the first international cosmetic dental conference of its kind. And the world’s leading dental educators took part.

“Esthetics Meets Aesthetics” brought together a variety of perspectives, techniques, and restorative dental philosophies to London and more than 450 delegates from 40 different countries took part in the sessions absorbing the information in the workshops and lectures. In addition, the trade area hosted nearly 50 exhibitors and was packed each day of the show.

“We’re very proud of our joint accomplishment,” said Hugh Flax, DDS, and president of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry. “But we’re even happier about the friendships that were cultivated during the planning and execution of the conference. This joint meeting proved that dentistry has no borders.”

In addition to the exceptional learning opportunities, delegates were privileged to take part in the welcome reception at Parliament in the House of Commons and enjoyed a black-tie gala affair at the close of the event.

“Well done!” said James Goolnik, BDS, MSC, and president of the British Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry. “As the BACD president, it has been a privilege to be the host nation of what was a world’s first and the feedback we have been receiving has been great.”

All of the participating groups agreed that this conference was the beginning of something significant: collaborating with like-minded AACD Affiliate and sister organizations to deliver the best of cosmetic dentistry education internationally.
