Henry Schein Dental Donates Dental Chair To The American Academy Of Dental Sleep Medicine

Chair Is Used for the Academy’s Training Programs to Educate Participants
in Dental Sleep Medicine Procedures and Treatment Protocols

Henry Schein Dental, the dental business of Henry Schein, Inc. (NASDAQ: HSIC), has donated a dental chair to the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine (AADSM), the leading national organization for dentists who use oral appliance therapy to manage sleep-disordered breathing.  The Pelton & Crane Spirit 1800 Dental Chair is used for AADSM’s training programs at its headquarters to educate participants in dental sleep medicine procedures and treatment protocols.

“The dental chair generously donated by Henry Schein Dental has been a wonderful gift,” said Kathleen Bennett, D.D.S, President-Elect of the AADSM.  “We have used it with great success during our practical demonstration courses.  AADSM participants have been able to evaluate airways and really learn how to record the correct occlusal relationship for patients receiving an oral appliance.  We look forward to continuing our valued partnership with Henry Schein Dental, whose support of dental sleep medicine has advanced our organization’s key goal of wider recognition and adoption of dental sleep medicine.”

Established in 1991 and including 2,800 members, the mission of the AADSM is to advance the dentist’s role in the treatment of sleep-disordered breathing through professional, education, practice standards, collaborative care, clinical research and public relations. The AADSM also works to be a leader in fostering dentists’ collaborative role with physician colleagues in reducing the burden of snoring and obstructive sleep apnea on patients.

“We applaud the work of the AADSM and are very pleased to support the dental profession as it takes a leading role in dental sleep medicine,” said Tim Sullivan, President of Henry Schein’s North American Dental Group.  “Our market leading dental sleep solutions are an important part of the comprehensive offering that we provide to our dental customers.  Henry Schein Dental is committed to working with dentists to help them enter the dental sleep field and effectively integrate dental sleep medicine into their practices.”

In addition to the donation of the dental chair, Henry Schein Dental supports the advancement of dental sleep medicine through Henry Schein Sleep Complete, a turnkey dental sleep medicine education program.  The number of dental sleep medicine Continuing Education seminars offered through Henry Schein Sleep Complete has doubled since the program’s inception in 2012.  To complement the program, Henry Schein Sleep Complete also offers a range of exclusive products and services that empower dentists with the latest technology and techniques needed to establish and maintain a successful dental sleep medicine practice.
