Digital Technology Leaders Share Insights About Digital Dentistry Solutions
Henry Schein, Inc. (NASDAQ: HSIC), the world’s largest provider of health care products and services to office-based dental, animal health and medical practitioners, held a full day dental education program focused on digital dental technologies at the 2015 China Dental Show in Shanghai. The exclusive education program, endorsed and supported by the Chinese Stomalogical Association (CSA), took place on September 24, 2015 at the National Exhibition and Convention Center.
Dental practitioners attended the event to learn how digital intraoral scanning, milling and state-of-the-art digital ceramic materials are used in dental practices around the world. Attendees also viewed demonstrations of leading dental solutions by 3Shape, based in Copenhagen, Denmark, Roland DG based in Hamamatsu, Japan, and Upcera, based in Shenzhen, China.
“We are seeing growing interest in digital dental technology around the globe as more and more dental practitioners come to recognize its value in providing excellent oral health care,” said James P. Breslawski, President of Henry Schein, Inc. and Chief Executive Officer of Henry Schein’s Global Dental Group. “Demand for oral health care is growing steadily in China as incomes and recognition of the connection between oral health and total health increases. Henry Schein has made a long-term commitment to the oral health community in China, and we are delighted to have led this discussion about the potential of digital dentistry to improve care while enhancing practice efficiency.”
Han Liang, Vice Secretary General of CSA, and representatives from Henry Schein, including Jane Shen, Henry Schein Consultant and Andrea Albertini, Vice President, European Dental – Southern Region, China and International Dental Equipment, welcomed attendees.
Guest speakers at the education event included Roman M. Cibirka, DDS, MS, a prosthodontist and internationally recognized lecturer on educational innovation, technology, virtual simulation and prosthodontics; Dr. Marcus Abboud, the Founding Chair of the Department of Prosthodontics and Digital Technology at Stony Brook University School of Dental Medicine, who has lectured extensively on digital dentistry and CAD/CAM technology; and Dr. Robert Gottlander, Vice President of Global Prosthetic Solutions at Henry Schein.
