The 2006 meeting in Chicago attracted a record attendance of 34,449 with almost 7600 dentists!
There were a number of great speakers and a very busy exhibit floor, with lots to see and learn.
Just a small sampling of some of the new products we saw:
The new “KODAK CR7400” digital radiography system, a flexible system that can help make the move to digital radiography simple and affordable, with minimal practice disruption. The “CR7400” has a very similar workflow to film, minimizing the learning curve. The thin, flexible plates serve as detectors and capture images just like film and the scanning process converts them to digital images and the plates are then erased for reuse. The system is easy to use and integrate, and provides dentists using film with the benefits of digital imaging.
Sirona Dental Systems also had some exciting news to share at the meeting. They announced the launch of their new “SIROLaser” in the US and Canada. The new “SIROLaser” diode laser caters to a broad spectrum of applications in endodontics, periodontics and oral surgery. The “SIROLaser” operates at a wavelength of 980 nanometers and has a power output ranging from 0.5 to 7 watts. It is compact and easy to use.
They also announced the release of the “SIROTorque L + Brushless Electric Motor System”, offering the latest in brushless motor technology. According to Sirona, it provides the dentist with more power, less ambient noise and virtually no vibration.
Sirona also announced enhancements to their “Sidexis” imaging software and new functionality for the “ORTHOPHOS XG +”and according to Sirona, there will be future digital imaging develpments to come.
