IDS 2009: Spotlight on Aesthetic Dentistry

Ceramics and aesthetics in dentistry:

high performancematerials allow for perfect care

“The spotlight will be on aesthetic dentistry at the next International Dental Show. Over the last few years, this field has taken on increasing significance, as more and more patients ask their dentist about the possibility of functionally and aesthetically perfect restorations,” says Dr. Martin Rickert, President of the VDDI (Association of German Dental Manufacturers). This obvious need also creates opportunities for dental laboratories, as technicians can bring their highly specialised knowledge of advanced methods to bear in this modern high-tech treatment area.

Products made from the high-performance ceramic zirconium oxide and its layered or pressed-ceramic veneers currently represent one of the most ambitious areas in dental prosthetics. However, in the area of aesthetically pleasing acrylic veneers too, materials are still being developed: The latest composite materials offer as yet unknown abrasion strength as well as the necessary colour fidelity to perfect high-quality substructure constructions. Dentists, technicians and practice staff can find out much more about current advances in ceramics and aesthetic dentistry and consult with qualified manufacturers at the International Dental Show (IDS) from 24 to 28 March 2009 in Cologne.

Dr. Markus Heibach, Managing Director of the VDDI is convinced: “In this current climate of change, the winners will be those who find out more now at IDS and understand how to use the upcoming opportunities strategically for their business.”

Visitors will find all of these new opportunities presented in Cologne, and will be able to use their discoveries to make sensible decisions for their own laboratory or practice. The International Dental Show, the world’s largest trade fair for dentistry and dental technology, will be taking place in Cologne from 24 to 28 March 2009 and is the ideal opportunity for expert visitors from dental practices and laboratories to inform themselves comprehensively in discussions with specialists from exhibiting companies and experienced users about the range of modern aesthetic concepts and the latest developments through to the processing of modern high-performance ceramics.

IDS takes place in Cologne every two years and is organized by the GFDI Gesellschaft zur Förderung der Dental-Industrie mbH, the commercial enterprise of the Association of German Dental Manufacturers (VDDI) and staged by Koelnmesse GmbH, Cologne.
