Sirona occupies a top position in the innovation rankings

Sirona, the dental industry’s technology leader, is ranked third in the league table of Germany’s 100 most innovative companies. At a ceremony in Friedrichshafen on 22 June the “Top 100” award was presented to Sirona by the well-known journalist and TV presenter Ranga Yogeshwar, the project mentor.

Dr. Joachim Pfeiffer, Chief Technology Officer at Sirona, sees the award as a clear recognition of the contribution made by the company’s committed and highly motivated co-workers. “We support the positive innovation climate at Sirona with sophisticated processes and broad scope for creativity, as well as intellectual and technical development.

Innovations arise primarily on the basis of the excellent interplay between numerous exceptional talents in our excellent R&D team.” Michael Geil, Managing Director of Sirona in Germany, is extremely pleased that the company has won this award: “The bronze medal is a genuine achievement in a field of 281 entrants. We are delighted to receive the Top 100 award. It testifies to our outstanding innovative abilities and underlines our leading position in the dental industry. In addition, it is a wonderful confirmation of our work and coincides perfectly with the 50th anniversary of our Bensheim production plant.”

For 135 years Sirona has been spearheading innovations in dental technology and has consistently set the standards for dental treatment. The company has a strong R&D team and, in 2011, opened a new Center of Innovation for 280 engineers and scientists. On a total floor space of 8,000 square meters the Center houses all the development departments of the company’s product divisions. The Center of Innovation is equipped with high-tech work stations and boasts an exhibition foyer, where visitors and Sirona customers can gain an insight into the development of high-tech dental equipment.

“Top 100” is not the first award which Sirona has won. In 2009 the company was selected as a “Top Employer” and, in 2003, as a “Top Job Employer of the Year”. In addition, numerous Sirona products have received innovation and design prizes. At the end of March 2012, for example, the SINIUS treatment center won the prestigious “red dot” design prize.

Working in cooperation with the Vienna University of Economics and Business, Compamedia singled out a total of 116 enterprises. Professor Nikolaus Franke and his team of university researchers evaluated the innovation management of 281 SMEs. Only the best receive the “Top 100” award.
