Straumann Launches Roxolid® for All Straumann introduces a NEW implant line featuring an advanced combination of the award winning Roxolid® material and the SLActive® implant surface on all implant diameters with the NEW Loxim™ transfer piece for simplified handling.

Roxolid® for All with the Loxim™ transfer piece is designed to provide clinicians with confidence in all cases, the flexibility of more treatment options, help increasing patient acceptance of implant treatment, improved osseointegration properties1 and efficient implant placement through simplified handling.

Andy Molnar, Executive Vice President, North America commented, “At Straumann, we are working on multiple initiatives that will help shape the future of dentistry and Roxolid for All is just one. Roxolid for All combines two of our award winning technologies with the simplified handling of the Loxim transfer piece to provide more treatment options. These benefits along with educated consumers can open the door to a larger number of patients who have not been able to receive – or have avoided – implant treatment. Straumann works with clinicians to open these doors and with the launch of Roxolid for All, doctors now have the option to treat patients with one implant diameter smaller than traditionally planned in some clinical situations and this may result in fewer and less invasive procedures, helping to increase the appeal of implant treatment. Today’s patient has a higher life expectancy and they want a tooth that will stand the test of time. We are committed to helping clinicians achieve this outcome. Straumann’s dedication to research allows us to provide impactful innovations that help clinicians improve the quality of care and life for patients.”

The Roxolid material and the SLActive surface technology each received the Frost & Sullivan Medical Device Technology of the Year Award. This award, which recognizes excellence in technological innovation, is one of the Best Practices Awards bestowed by Frost & Sullivan, the global growth consulting company. In 2005, the SLActive surface technology was noted as a ‘next generation dental implant surface technology’ and in 2009, the Roxolid material was noted as an ‘innovative high performance material for dental implants’.

Roxolid – the first Titanium Zirconium alloy designed specifically for implant dentistry – launched in 2009 and has been implemented in practices all around the country. Initially designed to offer more confidence when placing small diameter implants and to help increase patient acceptance of implant treatment, Roxolid Ø3.3 implants were just the beginning.

Roxolid for All expands to all diameters the advanced combination of the Roxolid material, the SLActive® surface technology and the NEW Loxim™ transfer piece for simplified implant handling. Loxim is a pre-mounted, self-retained transfer piece that offers clockwise and counter-clockwise rotations for one step implant insertion. With Loxim, the holding key is no longer required to remove the transfer piece, helping to make implant placement more efficient. Straumann designs implants with the restorative doctor in mind, as such, the Roxolid for All implants are compatible with all existing Straumann prosthetic options and instrumentation.

“The number of innovations Straumann has produced continues to grow and Roxolid for All expands treatment options even further. Doctors can now offer implant therapy to patients who were not previously inclined to consider implant therapy. This is a big opportunity for the surgeon, the restorative doctor and orthodontists. Straumann values the long standing trust of customers, working with clinicians to help grow their practices through a variety of channels. Straumann stands behind more than just their products. Straumann stands behind their customers,” said Gino Desimone, Vice President, Dental Division, US.
