Toothlife was born in 2017 with the mission of helping organizations do good through fundraising. After becoming vice president of a not-for-profit organization in Canada called Gift From the Heart, I started Toothlife to provide financial aid and support to the organization. My primary role was to assist with fundraising. Sadly, I wasn’t comfortable asking for donations, so I created a company and product, outsourced manufacturing and packaging, learned to add custom code to my Shopify store, and took a risk with my injection that would, ultimately, help many people (not as many in the early years as now).
It started small in my basement, where I spent many late nights packaging and designing websites after working a 4-hour teaching job and then eating lunch in my car on the way to an 8-hour dental hygiene job.
Surprisingly, it resonated on social media and soon became so successful that I had to make it a full-time job, although it’s only sometimes full-time. I continue to practice and have since brought on a team that helps Toothlife grow and, with that, continues to help our community.
Over the years, we’ve selected a variety of organizations for our donations. From Brown Girl RDH – which supports students through tuition scholarships – to The Glo Good Foundation’s annual mission trip in the Bahamas, countless contributions for smaller study clubs for raffles and internal fundraising, and graduating class gifts, all stemming back from its original group.
