Hygiene Spotlight features an exceptional dental hygienist every month. This month, we are showcasing Lisa Hardill, RDH, BHADM, Clinical Development Manager. With 20+ years in the dental industry, Lisa has worked in public health, private and independent practice. In her current role with one of Canada’s largest DSOs, she coaches other professionals on clinical development.
Do you have a mentor in the industry? How did you find them and any advice for finding a mentor?
While I don’t have a single traditional mentor, I’m part of an incredible group coaching program led by Allison Lacoursiere. We meet bi-weekly and work through bold topics with live mentoring. We uncover so much when it comes to self-worth and going after your dreams. The group is made up of inspiring and passionate women within and outside the dental industry. This supportive community is where we can learn from each other’s experiences, celebrate each other’s wins, and challenge each other to grow. It’s been transformative for me, both personally and professionally. Allison and I met over Instagram a number of years ago. This is the power of social media when you connect with like-minded women and you find our tribe.
Advice for other dental hygienists?
My advice to dental hygienists is to never lose sight of the profound value you bring to patient care, the dental practice, and the profession. Beyond clinical care, dental hygienists have the unique opportunity to build trust, reduce fear, and serve as advocates for their patients’ overall health. Every appointment is a chance to connect and influence not just a patients oral health outcome, but a person’s quality of life.
One of the most powerful things a dental hygienist can do is recognize the impact of their presence, how a conversation, a moment of reassurance, or personalized education can inspire lasting change. When dental hygienists truly understand the depth of their contribution, it not only elevates patient care but reignites a sense of pride and fulfillment in their work.
My mission has always been to help dental hygienists love what they do and fully embrace the essential role they play within the practice. Because when you see the value in your work, it transforms how you show up for your patients, your team, and yourself.

What accomplishment are you most proud of and why?
What I’m most proud of is my last four years with dentalcorp, and the work I continue to do on the clinical development team. I’ve had the opportunity to be a true collaborator, not just within our organization and dental industry, but within the dental practices.
I’m genuinely grateful to meet with so many passionate and dedicated dental teams across Ontario. Every interaction I have is a chance to listen, share insights, and help implement best practices that strengthen workflows and directly serve the dental hygienists and elevate the patient care experience.
Being able to contribute to the growth and success of these practices, while championing the essential role of dental hygienists, is deeply meaningful to me. It’s this collaboration—the alignment between clinical teams, practice leadership, and industry partners—that ultimately drives better patient outcomes and a stronger, more connected profession. That’s what makes this work so rewarding.

What is your favourite tv show or movie and why?
Outside keeping up with all thing’s dental hygiene, there are times I can get into a good TV series. I’m a big Outlander fan. I love the history, the scenery, and the connection between Jamie and Claire. It probably speaks to my roots too; I have Scottish and Irish heritage, I’ve traveled to Scotland with my husband and visited many incredible sites and made it all the way up to Isle of Skye, the northern most part of the major islands in Scotland. Also, fun fact—one of my boys is named Seamus. So, between the Gaelic names and the Highland castles, it feels a little personal!
